Illumination

Working on the play of opposites, the street banners contrast with the colour of the sky, ever-changing from blue to grey, using the iconic colour red which echoes such traditional British objects as post boxes, buses and old telephone kiosks. There are seven sculptural banners made of waterproof tarpaulins and PVC mesh spanning across the street. These 1m x 8m rectangle sections with their ?

interlocking elliptical cut-outs made up of different dimensions supported internally by fibreglass rods. Inspired by music notes on a stave, these were seen as a song to the city, visually interacting with the moving city through cut-outs in the banners as people walked through the street from day to day.
