Liquid Mountain/ Wexford Opera House, Ireland 2009

Liquid Mountain/ Wexford Opera House, Ireland. Commissioned by The Office of Public Works 2009

Liquid Mountain involved the dynamic and interactive illumination of each of the four elevations on the fly tower of the Wexford Opera House in Ireland.

The tower is illuminated by an ever-changing light score composed of ongoing wind movements which are recorded and fed into a computer to compose an interactive colour light score onto the building.

Thus the lit–liquid – tower frequently appears translucent, a quality that alludes to interior activity. It has become a beacon, not just in the centre of the town, but central to the town itself.

This is a cultural and architectural hub, viewed by residents and visitors alike from various vantage points. It is the Liquid Mountain, a fusion of nature culture and technology, a new heart for an ancient place.
